![]() but I've never tried it yet on real Mac hardware, only on Hackintoshes, so I don't know. After Install worked, use Migration Assistant. It is a perfect match for the General category. Method 2 (if iMac is capable of Mountain Lion > if not, use MLPostFactor) Download Mountain Lion on the MacBook via App Store, boot the iMac in Target Disk Mode and install it this way from the MacBook. The latest version of MacPostFactor is 1.0 on Mac Informer. Now if only I can boot Mavericks on my Mac. Download MLPostFactor v0.3 Download MLPostFactor v0.2 Download MLPostFactor v0.1. ![]() But this last part is completely up to whoever wants to try it. Also, I'd recommend backing up everything from Lion, then reformatting and installing over the Lion partition instead of splitting into 3 partitions I found that if not, there's either a large empty partition once Lion is removed or an old, unused install taking valuable GB of space. To fix this, before upgrading to 10.8.4 (the App Store/Software Update will ask you to do so eventually), make sure you have installed version 0.3 of MLPF, restart, then apply it with 10.8.4, and this should no longer be a problem. If you do use MLPostFactor, be careful with it, because combined with 10.8.4, MLPF will begin to have some kernel panics (10.8.3 works really well), or if you try to upgrade directly, 10.8.4 may not boot. Apple has a pretty consistent track record of cutting off OS support to Macs on convenient technological gaps- more than the logical cutoff of PowerPC. This is exactly what I was going to recommend as well! MLPostFactor is brilliant, having allowed my Mac to continue for several more years, along with plenty of others.Īlthough.
